The Dahlonega Lumpkin County Ministerial Association invites the community to its annual Ecumenical Lenten Services that will take place Tuesdays at 12:00 Noon at Dahlonega Baptist Church from March 12 through April 9. The theme this year is “The Blessings of Lent” where we will explore the graces received from a season of prayer and self-examination.
A meal of soup, sandwiches and dessert follows the service and people can reasonably worship and eat in an hour. The offering received during the service is dedicated to the work of the Ministerial Association which sponsors Side by Side, and supports other ministry initiatives in the community.
There will also be an Ecumenical Good Friday this year on April 19th at 12:00 Noon. It will also be at the Baptist Church though there will be no meal following. The theme of this observance will be “The Blessings of the Cross”.
For the Lenten services a different local pastor will organize each week. The pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Rev. Dr. Gerhard “Mike” Michael, will begin the series on March 12. The following Tuesdays proceed as follows: The Rev. Dr. Steven Wright, Pastor at Dahlonega Baptist Church, on March 19th, The Rev. Frank Colladay, Pastor Emeritus of Dahlonega Presbyterian Church, on March 26th, The Rev. Father Michael Revak, Interim at St. Luke the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, April 2, Rev. Robin Parr, Associate Pastor at Dahlonega United Methodist Church, April 9. The Good Friday will be led by a team of these pastors.
